Projects...

So I have the itch, that art itch, where my fingers really want to be deep and dirty in charcoal or pastels or SOMETHING!! I just want to create, so I have 2 projects in mind...one is a scenic shots of red poppies, I am thinking pastels, bright, fun, beautiful pastels, the second project is going to be charcoal. My friend has tons and tons of bright white walls, and I think that's a sin, so to help redeem him I am doing a piece just for him, something that will fit his personality and that appeals to his very pent house forum attitude. I will post as the progress goes.

My Dad

So I finally asked my Dad about Vietnam, Mom always told me to just let it go and he will tell me when he was ready. Me being the curious person I am this has always been difficult for me, but I have done it. My curiosity takes back burner to my dads feelings and comfort any old day! But tonight I finally asked, I know very little, I know he lied about his age to go, that he enlisted at 17 went to boot camp and was sent for his first tour at 18, thats all I knew. I remember when Amber and I were little and we found his purple heart, but for some reason that never thought about asking how, My grandfather also has one. What I never knew was why he had it, my dad was a gunman on the helicopters that were sent into the thick of things, "search and destroy" is what my father said, well something happened, they got hit and some shrapnel hit my dad in the head, and hit his best friend in the chest. My dad responded to the emergency and tried to save his bestfriend's life, he performed cpr until they landed, cpr on a man or a boy more accurately whose heart was torn from his body. I'm not sure what happened after that, my dad was treated for his wounds and given the purple heart, I guess my Uncle Robert was sent over and so my dad left the area and went to Korea(?) I'm not sure if that is accurate...either way because of what he went through he was asked to do search and rescue...better then search and destroy. His new job was to go out and find shot down pilots and bring them home, dead or alive. On one outing my dad's helicopter was gunned down, my dads helmet was shot off his head, luckily the only wound he received was a gash on his head that left a scar. At that point it sounds like he was sent home, cause he said he served a tour and half of active duty...I know at this point they sent him to a few different locations where he was shell shocked and spent the majority of the time self medicating with booze and locking himself in hotel rooms. . . at 18-19 i don't blame him one freakin bit! In my eyes, my dad is a hero, and a bit of a bad ass :) i have some scanned images of him in vietnam i will try and find the thumbdrive and get them posted.

swimming idea's

Okay so i have been thinking, how can i make this blog productive, something enticing for me. Something that I will pursue and keep on, something that helps me grow in a creative way that makes me happy. I have a couple idea's swimming around in my head, a project a month, something different, a photo a week, picking a random word and doing a photo in theme of that word...i don't know something, something that keeps me on top of the blog and something that gives me a creative outlet...so any input let me know :)

Most recent project

So a very good friend of mine birthday was not to long ago, and the fact that she is one of my besties I wanted to do something special for her. So I finished up a projected that i had actually started a year prior for her, a crocheted scarf in what i thought would be a very flattering color for her, and i was right! I couldn't let that be it, so i got to scheming and considering that the only man outside of E's family that she loves is Batman, the creation just developed. I tried getting my technical pens out but none of them would work, so instead it was me, my sketch, a paint brush, and some tech ink....and this is what i came up with :)

Other projects that I have recently done well not so recently, but you get the picture. I did a 16x20 prisma pencil illustration for my good friends baby's nursery, of a monkey, long story but the project really allowed me to rekindle my relationship with my prisma's and reminded me just how much I enjoy them! The other project i'm posting was something personal, it is a wish, i hope, and a dream. It is a 20x36 charcoal/pastel piece.
